Since their debut in 2006, Big Bang members have always been famous both for their talent and their unique fashion style, especially G-Dragon. Their latest song, “Tell Me Goodbye” is featured on the Japanese OST (Original Sound Track) of Korean espionage drama “Iris”, in which member T.O.P plays an assassin. The drama-like music video for “Tell Me Goodbye” takes place in a setting strongly reminiscent of Chicago during Prohibition and includes all the distinctive elements of a film noir : a detective, machine gun-yielding gangsters, a black front-wheel drive car, whiskey, cigarettes and of course a femme fatale. Those who are familiar with the genre have certainly never failed to notice how in spite of the violence of the story these movies always give off a very elegant and refined feeling, be it from the locations, the furniture and accessories displayed or the characters’ outfits. “Tell Me Goodbye” follows this rule as Big Bang members stylishly act their way through the video, sporting various high-class looks worthy of renowned fashion magazines.
The cemetery scenes are the best example of such fashion. It starts off with G-Dragon wearing a dark grey suit with a white shirt and brown leather gloves. The black pocket handkerchief with a white rolled hem, the open shirt collar and the white satin scarf under the fitted jacket add a subtle casual touch to the outfit.
Next is Taeyang in a sober yet smart harmony of dark tones: grey Mao collar jacket, dark grey vest and pants, black leather gloves and thin black belt. The white shirt as well as the white linen of the jacket create a soft contrast preventing the outfit from looking too plain.
Daesung’s look is made of a grey double-buttoning vest with large checks in matching tones, grey pants, a white shirt and a brown-red edge-to-edge jacket, giving him a near aristocratic look. The dark brown tie and leather gloves nicely help to counterbalance the red hue of the jacket.
Seungri is the last to appear in these scenes, sporting a chocolate brown vest, jacket, leather gloves and bowtie with grey pants and a white shirt for a classic but stylish outfit.
Although there is no close-up shot of T.O.P in the cemetery sequence (I let you watch the music video to find out why), we can still see him in fine clothes during a scene in his library, wearing a beige checked jacket, a white shirt and a black tie. A black and white scale-printed pocket handkerchief, black spectacles without glasses and a large ring add a very modern twist to his look.
