It is fair to say that Kate Moss is a style icon, one can go further than that and say she has incredible taste this is backed by the fact that in the past she has been named Glamour UK’s best dressed woman (2008) and makes best dressed lists all over the world including a appearance in Vogues top ten. This said it is then no surprise that Kate has cottoned on to one of the latest fashion trends on the rise, the Oriental theme.
Kate has just released her latest Top Shop collection for Christmas 2009, and the model was quoted in Grazia describing her line as carrying an ‘Oriental Theme’. The prints that Kate has chosen for the collection includes bamboo, fireworks and lotus flowers on a variety of silk and knit fabrics and it is not just the prints that give the oriental feel. The make and shape of many of the dresses screams Asian as well. Take the dress below it is clearly of a traditional oriental shape but Moss adds a dash of the west with her high thigh splits and accessories of fish net stockings and big messy hair.

Below you can see a piece from her intimate’s collection, clearly the print is Asian inspired and so is the design, this Japanese style kimono is spruced up to become a cute little dressing gown. There is also a kimono style frock for the outdoors if you are not in the market for a new dressing gown.

The collection also includes many a dress that will be perfect for that upcoming Christmas party. But you will have to be careful; there is a top shop on most high streets so there is always the chance that someone else will arrive in the same show stopper. However if you too are inspired by the Oriental theme and want to get on the band wagon there are plenty of other options out there, you just have to look!
With last years Kate Collection sporting a Victorian feel and this latest release embracing the Oriental trend it is fair to say that the one converted Kate collections are moving away from her unique style, but I think she is on to an industry trend with this one. It may not scream Kate Moss but it is still a stunning collection.
