Keeping Warm AND Looking Good

Although technically we are not in winter yet it is safe to say that we have all started getting out the warm woolly gear and put the hot pants away. For some people this will mean they throw fashion out the window and rug right up, only caring about keeping warm. It doesn’t have to be this way! It is possible to stay warm and look good, all you have to do is be sensible about clothing choice.

A lot of people over look the practicality of a jacket; most jackets fit nicely under a coat and are generally transferable to indoor wear. This little cropped jacket is very much in vogue and the beauty of it is if you feel the cold you can wear this indoors to almost any type of function, it can go from work to dinner or from shopping to a night out thanks to the glitter detail. A definite winter winner.

Everyone needs a coat, this winter the military theme is working its way into a lot of designers coat patterns. This grey coat embraces the military theme nicely for a stylish feminine result. It will look good over jeans or tights and if you are brave it will even cover a cocktail dress. It is suitable for the pub, a restaurant, shopping or a walk around the park and of course for work. If you are really affected by the cold then this is coat that you can throw a few jumpers under to ensure you keep the heat in, which brings me to my next winter dressing point – layers.

When stepping out in colder weather the key to keeping warm and not getting to hot once you are inside is ensuring you have enough layers. There are two ways you can go about this, your first option is to go loose and baggy, this will involve oversized cardigans or sweaters that are almost dress length with large scarves and shirts, preferably over something tight like skinny jeans or tights. The other option is to try for something more fitted, like the below dress, the key here is to put tight items under the fitted items to ensure you don’t get too much bulk. Loose is the way to go for casual engagements where as the fitted look is perfect for work and more formal activities.

And finally to keep you warm on those cold winter nights, the fashion item that you definitely want to include in your wardrobe is the vest. Available at the moment are vest of all sizes, colours and styles and they are suitable for almost every occasion. You can get a knitted vest designed for warmth but it will also a another element to your outfit, a fleece vest which will also add warmth but give you a more sporting look, a cropped fitted vest that you can put over a business shirt for work or a suede vest with fur trim. The range of vests on offer this winter is vast and no matter what your style you are certain to find something that will suite your look.
