Last months Seoul fashion week was not received very well by the international press and most of reviews available are relatively negative towards the venues, organisation and vibe of the event. There were more then a few grumbles about the fashion as well. The week is mainly directed at mens fashion but there were still some womens collections that are worth looking at.
That said lets move on the fashion side of Seoul fashion week. Let us start with Gee Choon Hee whose collection included some preppy numbers with a twist. Many of the outfits had a 50’shouse wife feel, there was generally a twist added; for example below you can see the blue jacket has gone off the shoulders to try to bring the look into the current market. And then thrown in amongst these sweet outfits were some suits, nicely tailored but relatively unoriginal. The collection then finished with some nice floor length evening gowns but as lovely as they were it was nothing that hasn’t been seen before.

Yang Hee Deuk started his show off with some pieces that were fairly fitted around the top but loose and flowy around the bottom. Then came some very vibrant frocks all either a bold block color or a lively print, most of which were floral. Looking over the show it could have been two separate designers showing their work. There were two very distinct themes running through the show, the outfits went from checked and layered looks to the free falling summer dresses.

Yoon Ki Suk (Lotoco)
Finally we will have a quick look at Yoon Ki Suk (Lotoco) whose collection was admittedly primarily for men but there were a few womens pieces in there. Mainly it was swimwear and nothing to flash or different at that. But if you have the time or you are interested I would suggest having a look at the show as I feel it is a great example of androgynous clothing. The Androgynous trend it starting to catch on all over the world and I think Lotoco have a very good start on the market with this collection. Overall the fashions released were nothing that strikingly new and I am interested to see if any of the themes make big showing on the streets of Korea in the coming season.
