Kuroki Natsumi is a model turned fashion designer from Tokyo, Japan. During her modelling career, Natsumi was a hugely popular exclusive model for the well-known fashion magazine ‘PINKY’, a magazine targeted at fashion conscious teenagers and twentysomethings. She was however, all too aware of the limited longevity of a career in modelling, and for a number of years Natsumi had been taking a particular interest in fashion design, learning the fundamentals in preparation for becoming a designer herself.
This opportunity came in 2010, when she launched her ‘Yupendi’ label. Aimed at the same target audience as the magazine that made her name, Natsumi’s young age and modelling experience has enabled her to create designs that speak to the young women of Japan and beyond. Sassy, stylish and with a functional flair, Natsumi’s designs carefully combine this with an inherent and delicate femininity.
Natsumi’s initial collections have been well-received, and she looks to have built the solid foundations for a future career that could see her become not just hugely popular in Japan, but on the catwalks of Paris, Milan, London and New York.
