Asian Clothing for Men

If you check out the showing at Singapore Fashion Week, an annual event for more than two decades now, you’ll see a couple of interesting trends emerging in men’s fashions.

The world’s top designers and biggest buyers always show up to show off – or to buy, and established names vie with a slew of enthusiastic newcomers to make their mark on the fashion industry.

One trend that has been noted by reviewers is the move towards the military. That aspect of worldwide interest and concern is reflected in such major hits as Valentino’s black trench coat, a subtle blend of “naval officer and international spy”. The Veneta jacket is more overt in its rough, quasi-military look that looks just magnificent.

It has also been noted that Asian men have a flair for wearing tees, with or without graphic designs. It’s something to do with the face and body structure, according to the multitude of designers who are constantly expanding the parameters of the lowly t-shirt.

If you really want to stand out, try Heritage 81 or Express; for a sleeker, high-class tone check out Giordano, a hugely popular name in Hong Kong and China, now expanding to Asian-American centres such as Los Angeles and Vancouver.

Another name to look for is K*facto.2y (known more simply as K2). They’ve had one of the most popular lines in casual wear for Hong Kong shoppers since 1992, and their distributorship has grown throughout Southeast Asia, Australia and the U.S.
